چکیده

Our research focuses on applying formal methods to elevate the design quality of Simulink. As a modelling and simulation tool, Simulink is deficient when coping with the increasing requirements of high-level assurance and timing analysis. We propose a systematic approach to translate Simulink models to Timed Interval Calculus (TIC), a continuous-time based formal language for specifying and reasoning about real-time systems. The translation preserves the functional and timing aspects of Simulink models. Our approach can increase the design space by specifying timing related requirements, in particular safety and liveness, exactly on the model after the translation. Using TIC reasoning rules, we can formally validate that the design satisfies the requirements.

Production Constraints Modelling: A Tactical Review Approach

A constraint is a limitation or a restriction that poses a threat to the performance and efficiency of a system. This paper presented a tactical review approach to production constraints modeling. It discussed the theory of constraints (TOC) as a thinking process and continuous improvement strategy to curtail constraints in other to constantly increase the performance and efficiency of a system...

a Comparison Study Between the Joint Probability Approach and Time Series Rainfall Modelling in Coastal Detention Pond Analysis (RESEARCH NOTE)

In tidally affected coastal catchments detention pond should be provided to store flood surface water. A comparison between the full simulation approach based on the joint probability method and time series rainfall modeling via the annual maximum of pond level was undertaken to investigate the assumptions of independence between variables that are necessary in the joint probability method. The...

Monthly runoff forecasting by means of artificial neural networks (ANNs)

Over the last decade or so, artificial neural networks (ANNs) have become one of the most promising tools formodelling hydrological processes such as rainfall runoff processes. However, the employment of a single model doesnot seem to be an appropriate approach for modelling such a complex, nonlinear, and discontinuous process thatvaries in space and time. For this reason, this study aims at de...

Modelling, Synthesis, and Simulation of Supervisory Process Control Systems

Modelling, synthesis, and simulation issues of the supervisory systems in process control are investigated in the paper. Petri nets are used as a basic modelling framework for the supervisory part of the system. It is shown how the final verification effort can be minimised by applying formal synthesis methods. A straightforward approach to the industrial implementation of the developed solutio...

Multi-class signal flow model for inter-domain traffic flows simulation

This paper is focused on the Rate and Time Continuous Fluid Simulation technology (RTC-FSIM) [Ber02a], [Ber02b] a modular and extendable simulation technology based on differential equations paradigm realised in MATLAB and SIMULINK. RTC-FSIM is intended to be used in INTERMON [INTERMON] project for QoS based inter-domain modelling and simulation considering priority classes to describe traffic ...
